Training and License

Billy grew up in Southeast Texas. He saw early on how Gulf Coast heat, humidity, heavy rain and shifting clay soil change the way insects and rodents behave. That interest led him into pest control.

Entomology training

He completed coursework in urban and structural entomology, covering termite and wood-destroying insect identification, pest biology and safe chemical handling.

State license

He passed the TDA licensing exams to become a Certified Applicator. The license lets him apply treatments and supervise licensed technicians.

Continuing education

Each year he completes the continuing education TDA requires to keep the license active. It covers pesticide laws, non-chemical exclusion methods, low-toxicity baits and mosquito control around water.

12+ Years in the Field

2012–2016

Commercial and agricultural pest control

Billy started as a field technician for a regional firm, serving farms, warehouses and food businesses in Fort Bend and Brazoria counties.

  • Treated drainage ditches and floodplains to stop mosquitoes from breeding
  • Built pest control plans for commercial kitchens that passed health inspections

2016–2020

Termites and home exclusion

He moved into residential work and focused on termite inspections and treatments. Most homes here sit on slab foundations over heavy clay soil.

  • Applied liquid termite barriers around slab foundations without damaging landscaping or utility lines
  • Fitted mesh covers into the weep holes of brick homes to keep out mice, cockroaches and ants

2020–Present

Why Local Experience Matters

After a decade working in Fort Bend County, Billy noticed that many national chains were treating Rosenberg homes on the same spray schedule they used everywhere else. That approach often missed the local problems.

“Rosenberg isn’t just another ZIP code. It has its own drainage, slab foundations, and new homes going up near the Brazos River. You can’t fix a mosquito problem in Summer Lakes the same way you treat an old building downtown.”

What Billy Does Every Day

1

Reviews tough inspections

Billy personally checks complex jobs before treatment begins, including termite inspections and active rodent problems in 77471 and 77469.

2

Trains our technicians

He holds weekly safety meetings and joins technicians in the field. Every treatment must follow TDA rules and the EPA product label.

3

Plans treatments by neighborhood

Different parts of the area have different pest problems, so Billy plans around each one:

  • Lake communities (Bonbrook Plantation, Summer Lakes): mosquito control where they breed, with larvicides and barrier treatments.
  • Brazos River lowlands: rodent and fire ant work before heavy rains push pests toward homes.
  • Brick-and-slab streets and older buildings downtown: weep-hole covers and attic barriers to block entry points.

4

Fact-checks our website

Billy reviews every pest guide, treatment description and service page we publish. If something is wrong or out of date, he corrects it, so what you read here matches what we do in the field.

How to Check Billy’s License

Don’t take our word for it. The Texas Department of Agriculture publishes its current license lists, so you can check Billy yourself.

  • Open TDA’s Structural Pest Control Reports: Current Licenses page.
  • Download the current list of certified applicators.
  • Search it for Martinez.
  • Do the same for any company you hire. Texas requires a TDA license for anyone who does structural pest control for pay.
